cEDH Showdown Report

Commander nights have been a blast at our 341 store here in Vienna, Austria for years! It’s full house pretty much twice a week with different Commander players of different brackets having fun smashing each their Commanders against each other. That includes of course the most competitive Commander bracket: cEDH.

Now, we didn’t know how many people were actually interested in cEDH until we organized our very first cEDH Showdown last weekend. A total of 42 players showed up to the tournament! The first place registered for the cEDH European Championship in Munich. And there was of course a big prize pool of 1/2k Euros for the Top 4!

To grant accessibility to as many players as possible, we softened the proxy rules a bit: You could proxy the whole Reserved List and 10 additional cards. That means players could easily upgrade their non-cEDH decks with Duals, expensive Counterspells and many other staples of the cEDH format to make their decks competitive!
