FAQ – Selling Magic Cards

MOST FREQUENT QUESTIONS

These are your advantages when you sell to us:
  1. Respect, transparency and speed: We respect your property and offer a transparent and fast sales process.

  3. We cover the shipping: If your collection exceeds an offer amount of €500, we will cover the shipping costs.
  4. No discount for unsorted cards: You get the same fair price, regardless of whether the cards are sorted or not.
  5. Every card is checked for value: We take the time to carefully evaluate each card to ensure you get the best possible price. Your collection will be conveniently picked up from your home and is, of course, fully insured.
  6. We also buy really large collections: If the value of your collection exceeds €20,000, we will look for an individual solution with you, for example, we will be happy to come to you, or you can come to Vienna at our expense.

When selling to us, you have various options available to you:

  • Send pictures or a list: Send us photos or a list of your collection. We will then prepare a personalized quote for you based on this information.
  • Sell in person: Hand over your cards directly at an event or at our store in Vienna.
  • Home visits for large collections: If your collection exceeds a value of €20,000, our buyers will be happy to visit you in your hometown.

  • What is a valuable card?
    • Valuable cards are typically Mythic Rare (red symbol) or Rare (golden symbol).
    • A card with an assumed value of €5 or more.

  • If you have no idea how many cards in your collection could be of value, we would ask you to do the following:
  1. Take a picture of all Rare (golden set symbol) and Mythic Rare (red set symbol) cards. Up to 32 single cards (four rows, eight cards in each row) in a photo are perfectly fine. In addition, take pictures of all cards you think might be of value. They can remain in the binder. Please mark foil cards with dice. You can find sample pictures below.
  2. Detailed pictures of Uncommons, Commons, Basic Lands, and Tokens … are not necessary. Just add a photo that shows the additional cards in their entirety to give us a better idea about the volume of your collection.
  • Submit your pictures through the upload function in the contact form, or send them on our designated upload page or via WhatsApp at a later time.
  • One of our experienced buying experts will gladly get back to you with an estimate for your Magic trading cards collection.

  • Highly Valuable Cards:
    • We have daily updated buying prices for every single Magic card. We pay up to 70% of the current market price, depending on various factors like card condition, card language, and our inventory of the card.
  • Valuable Cards:
    • For Magic cards with a market price of up to €20, we pay 60%.
    • For Magic cards with a market price of up to €5, we pay between 10% and 50%.
  • Bulk:
    • Cards that are not frequently played are classified as Bulk. They have a market price of less than €0.50.
    • We buy these cards for:
      • Rares & Mythics at €0.05 per card
      • Commons & Uncommons at €1 per 1,000 cards

GENERAL BUYING QUESTIONS

When selling to us, you have various options available to you:

  • Send pictures or a list: Send us photos or a list of your collection. We will then prepare a personalized quote for you based on this information.

  • Home visits for large collections: If your collection exceeds a value of €20,000, our buyers will be happy to visit you in your hometown.

  • Absolutely. In case it comes to our attention that shipping costs might exceed the value of the cards, we will let you know beforehand.

  • Of course! We buy all languages. Our buying price for English and German cards is a bit higher than for most non-English language Magic cards.

  • What Magic cards are valuable?
    • MtG Cards that are of value typically have the card type Mythic Rare (red symbol) or Rare (golden symbol). Older cards might not have that symbol.
    • For our internal purposes, we classify trading cards worth €5 or more as valuable.

  • If you have trouble identifying which cards and how many in your collection could be of value, please do the following:
  1. Snap a picture of all Rare (golden set symbol) and Mythic Rare (red set symbol) cards. Use your phone and group up to 32 single cards in rows of four (eight cards in each row) in a photo. Additionally, take pictures of all cards you think might be valuable. You don’t have to remove them from a binder if they are in one. Please mark foil cards, i.e., with dice. You can find sample pictures below.
  2. Detailed pictures of Uncommon, Common, Basic Land, Token cards, and so on are not needed. Just add an image that shows the additional cards in their entirety to give us a better idea about the volume of your collection.
  • Submit your images by using the upload function in our contact form, or send them on our designated upload page or via WhatsApp at a later time.
  • One of our experienced buying experts will gladly get back to you with an estimate for your Magic trading cards collection.

  • No, we are always buying a large variety of cards, from the very first sets of Magic, like Alpha, Beta, or Arabian Nights, to the latest expansions, like Lorwyn Eclipsed or Secrets of Strixhaven. We also buy cards in bulk. You can see, we really buy EVERY card!

  • After your shipment has arrived, we will make you a final offer for the cards. Then you can decide if you want to take it or not:
    • If you are happy with our offer, we keep your cards/collection and pay you within two workdays. This usually does not deviate by more than 10% from the non-binding offer and depends mainly on the actual condition of your cards.
    • If you’d rather not sell your cards, we return them to you free of charge.
  • IMPORTANT: Never send us your cards without contacting us beforehand. Our team will assist you with choosing the best and cheapest way to send your cards.

  • You can find a great overview on the topic here. Our team is happy to help if you have questions or doubts about your cards’ condition. If you have a specific card or cards where you are unsure, please highlight them and include images when submitting the contact form.

  • Unfortunately, we can’t pay that much for most cards. We are a seller on Cardmarket too and therefore have to factor in our costs.
  • Having said that, let’s focus on the advantages of selling directly to us. You …
    • … can sell every card. Immediately.
    • … will receive your money right away.
    • … do not have to securely pack your cards and send them to the individual buyers one by one.
    • … do not have to deal with any buyer’s claims or complaints.

  • We do not have a template, so you can send your own list, but make sure to include the following:
    • Card Name in English (EN)
    • Edition/Set in English (EN)
    • Language (only if non-English)
    • Foil or Non-Foil
    • Amount
    • Condition if not Mint or Near Mint (either as NM, EX, GD, LP, PL, PO or as NM, LP, MP, HP, DMG for US)
  • If you do not have a list, we recommend sending photos in advance. This usually takes much less time.
  • Of course, you can also send us exports of the common collection trackers, e.g., Delver Lens or Moxfield.

  • Yes, absolutely. We are buying on a daily basis from all over the world. Just reach out to us and get a quote!
  • We have happy customers selling us cards from Germany, United Kingdom, the United States, Italy, France, Spain, and many other countries from all over the world.
  • For large and valuable collections (more than €500) we can offer fully insured pick-up with a courier service at our expense.

SHIPPING

  • That depends on the number of cards and their value.
    • If it is just a few cards, we recommend sending it as a letter with tracking.
    • For a bigger collection, we recommend sending it as a parcel/package.
  • Make sure your letter/package is sufficiently insured!
  • Optionally, we can have our partner FedEx pick up your cards from you. This is especially convenient for you with high-value cards or collections. If the offer value for your cards is over €500, we will also pay for shipping to us.
  • Please make sure that everything you send us is safely packed and sufficiently insured. We are not liable for any damage or loss.

Are you selling a smaller number of valuable cards?

Please use a box, a padded or bubble envelope for a smaller number of cards. In addition, secure your cards with cardboard, postcards, in a deckbox, and/or use a toploader to prevent damage to the cards. Here’s a quick tutorial video that will guide you through the process:

Are you selling a larger number of cards?

Then we have a few tips on how you can ensure that your collection safely arrives. The more of these tips you follow, the faster we can evaluate your collection and pay you!

  • First, remove all cards from binders and sleeves. Note: Collections that are not in sleeves and/or albums will be given priority by our buyers.
  • Cards worth more than €10 can remain in sleeves and are best stored in a deck box.
  • The unsleeved cards are then best packed in suitable deck boxes, fatpacks, bundle boxes, cardboard boxes, booster boxes, or similar boxes.
  • Make sure that all cards are facing in the same direction.
  • Make sure that all cards are securely packed by using bubble wrap, packing paper, or similar flexible materials to fill any space.
  • Important: Always send the cards in a suitable shipping box.

Finally, a few tips on what you should never do when packing your cards:

  • No rubber bands.
  • Never more than two cards per toploader.
  • Stow cards carefully in toploaders; too much force can damage your cards.

  • This depends on the payment method of choice:
    • Immediately: Cash and Store Credit
    • Typically, within 2 business days: PayPal and bank transfer

  • Yes, our trade-in bonus is +10%.

  • Instead of cash, you receive a store credit which can be used for everything we offer, i.e., our High-End Store or Cardmarket.
  • If you choose to get paid in store credit, you will receive an additional 10% for your cards, i.e., if you sell cards with a value of €100.00, you will receive €110.00 in store credit.
  • It is possible to receive a mix of store credit and other payouts.
