MagicCon Amsterdam 2024

Three For One Trading at

MagicCon Amsterdam

July 2024

From June 28 to 30, 2024 our team of roughly 12 guys travelled from Vienna, Austria to Amsterdam, Netherlands for an unforgettable MagicCon 2024 event! We were super excited, preparations were vast and so were our expectations.

We had 15,000 lanyards with our logo and the MagicCon logo made that were distributed to all attendants together with flyers (leading to our Wheel of Fortune) at arrival at the event.

Not only that, but we also got support from the USA by Mike (who was a fantastic Wheel of Fortune host) from Finch and Sparrow games and hired professional photographer (and friend of the store) Mario Pampel to take some of the best photos we have ever seen from the event! Thanks for all the hard work!

Here are now some impressions of the MagicCon Amsterdam 2024!

Setting Up Our Booth

Our team already arrived on Thursday, to prepare everything for the big weekend! There was a hell of a lot to do before the event: Setting up the booth, getting all the products ready for selling, wiring all the computers and screens and much more.

All this hard work behind the scenes pays off in the end, when the doors open and the halls get swarmed by all the lovely players, customers and friends. We also got to enjoy the quiet halls and have some quality time with the colleagues before that.

BEHOLD: Our Booth!

Here’s the set up booth on Friday, with some before and after impressions:

BOOTH EMPTY VS: BOOTH CROWDED

Can you spot all the Three for One coworkers on the pictures? It gets hard, because everyone wanted to see our beautiful booth, and maybe they also wanted to buy and sell some cards. And mayyyyyybe… there was another reason a lot of people wanted to make sure to visit our booth at least once?

This Booth is made for working

Of course, we didn’t just want to show off our cool booth but also buy, sell and trade cards! There’s been a lot of traffic at our booth, and everyone had their hands full to make the customer experience as enjoyable as possible, no matter if you wanted to sell or buy cards.

If you missed us at MagicCon Amsterdam, there’s still a very easy way to sell your collection:

Just fill out our contact form here and we’ll handle the rest!

Now onto some impressions of the busy black and white 341 bees at work:

So obviously we brought a lot of cards back with us, and you can find ALL  the High-End cards in our two separate New Arrival drops:

All our other cards can of course be found on our Cardmarket page, here. And if you are on the hunt for specific High-End cards, make sure you are subscribed to our New Arrivals email list!

WHEEL OF FORTUNE

Spinning the Wheel of Fortune

Nobody can resist a good old Wheel of Fortune when they see one, especially when the prize is right! Our Wheel of Fortune had a lot of different prizes, from 341 merch to a Revised Underground Sea!

Here are all the prizes you could win at the wheel:

  • 1 of 2,500 Event Boosters containing an info card, 341 Token, 3 rare cards, 1 foil rare card or 1 card worth approx. €5
  • 1 of 30 Premium Boosters containing an info card, 341 Token, 3 rare cards, 1 card worth approx. €10 (29 boosters) or 1 Underground Sea (1 booster)
  • 1 of 400 Three for One Trading pen and lifepad sets
  • 1 “One with Nothing” (no prize)

Total value for all prizes?

€1,500

Wondering how much time it took to get those 2,500 Event Boosters ready?

3–4 employees put 7 cards into a penny sleeve for roughly 8 hours straight, easy!

The chance to win a Premium Event Booster at our Wheel of Fortune was between 1% and 2%. If you got lucky, you needed to get lucky a second time by hitting the 1 out of 30 boosters containing the Dual.

Congrats to the guy that pulled that off, have fun with your Sea, man!

But make no mistake, there’s not only one lucky Underground Sea winner, but two! The second winner will be drawn randomly from all our Newsletter subscribers.

Not a subscriber yet?! Don’t worry, you have time until July 31 to subscribe!

After that, we’ll draw a random person that will win a second revised Underground Sea!

The People of MagicCon Amsterdam

We got visited by sooooooooooo soooo many people, it was insane! There was a huge line (sometimes with a waiting time of approx. 40 minutes) for the Wheel of Fortune and to be fair, we didn’t expect people to be that much excited to turn that wheel. Sorry for everyone that had to wait a bit longer or didn’t get a chance. We were a bit over our head on that one!

That fantastic Avacyn cosplay was by the way done by Soryu Geggy Cosplay.

Unfortunately, we didn’t get all the names of all cosplayers and content creators that were at the booth during the weekend, but feel free to reach out if you want to be covered or for future collaborations!

Nice to see you, partner!

Filipa, who we regularly work with, did a fantastic job at hosting the cosplay show at MagicCon Amsterdam. Glad to have such a great partner and content creator at our side! You can find her on X here.

If you anyhow came in contact with Old School Magic, then you probably know about Timmy the Sorcerer! He visited us this year for the first time for the VIENNAGEDDON 2024, and we’re looking forward to continuing working together in the future. Here’s Timmys Youtube channel!

One of our blog authors, ex-pro player and MTG caster Matej Zatlkaj was also at the Con and on the stage to work! Sadly, he didn’t have time to visit our booth, but maybe you have time to visit his socials? Find Matej here!

SIDE EVENT: Modern Horizons 3 Pro Tour

What else has been happening? Oh right, there was Pro Tour going on! As you all probably know by now, Simon Nielsen won the Pro Tour Modern Horizons 3 at MagicCon Amsterdam! Simon played against Sam Pardee in the finals and funny enough, both played Bant Nadu.

Congratulations!

You can watch the whole thing here:

Another memorable thing that happened at MagicCon was the honoring and memorializing of Kai Budde for his lifelong achievement. The Player of the Year award was named “The Kai Budde Player of the Year”. During his career, Kai won 7 Pro Tours and 7 Grand Prix, which makes him one, if not THE, best Magic player up until now. Kai also shared some sad news about his fight with cancer. You can learn more about that in the interview below, or in the speech at the ceremony by Huey Jensen.

Check out the interview with Kai here:

See you at the next Gathering!

Here are the next upcoming events you can find us:

3-6 October 2024: SPIEL 24 in Essen

25-27 October 2024: MagicCon Las Vegas

See you there!
