2024 Year in Review
December 31, 2024
Author: Philippe Zens
Another year comes to an end, and what a year 2024 it was for us here at Three for One Trading! Let’s take a look back at it together and share some memories of fantastic events, people and other highlights!
New Members of the 341 Team
Like every year, the Three for One Trading team is growing and growing! This year we welcomed a lot of new colleagues, so let’s see the new faces!
Sebastian Witta
Sebastian joined us mid 2024 for some heavy lifting all around the shop! He became the responsible Branch Manager at Three for One Trading, which means he was the main contact person for any question the staff might have.
Then he was also responsible for anything related to our store local in Vienna. Oh, and of course he’s a huge MtG and board game nerd! Unfortunately, he left us in December, so we wanted to take this chance to say thank you and wish him all the best in the next chapter of his journey.
Sascha is back… or not?!
Sascha left us early 2023, but then he decided to come back! And then he left us again, but now he’s back again, and then he is gone again? Nobody knows exactly if Sasha is currently working here or not. And if he’s not, he maybe will be again soon? If he’s been working here, he has always done shipping for Cardmarket, so let’s just say he has done that too in 2024.
Benjamin Bruckner
Benjamin started working with the Cardmarket/Shipping team mid 2024. You might have already shown him your ID by accident, because Benjamin easily can be mistaken as our security guy! Don’t let that fool you, though, Benjamin is a super nice person who loves to crack packs of One Piece Card Game, plays beach volleyball and enjoys spending time with his favorite video games.
Jakob Lesigang
Jakob started working with the Cardmarket/Shipping team towards the end of 2024. If you are not finding Jakob in the store, he’s probably out at the football stadium to watch his favorite team win, playing some booster draft with his friends or going over the speed limit with his bicycle somewhere!
Henrike Hampel
Henrike joined the Cardmarket/Shipping team around the same time as Jakob, towards the end of 2024. When she’s not busy preparing your orders, you’ll likely find her watching the latest “Hellraiser Halloween 13” movie or admiring the peaceful elephants at Tiergarten Schönbrunn. She’s also a passionate board game enthusiast—so if you need a recommendation for your next game night, she’s the one to ask!
Alois Hobelsberger
Alois Hobelsberger has joined our team at the storefront! A true One Piece connoisseur first and a Magic apprentice second—but don’t be fooled. Alois is a quick learner and already navigates the store better than a few of our marketing folks! He also runs his own One Piece podcast (DON!! Voyage) and is a treasure trove of knowledge when it comes to collecting Pokémon.
Welcome everybody, see you on Monday!
Beautiful Photography by Mario Pampel Production
Last year, we have been accompanied by Mario Pampel Productions for some stunning coverage of our events and tournaments! You can really tell the difference, and we are happy that he’s not only a regular Commander player at our store, but also a great photographer.
Thank you, Mario, for all the awesome pictures!
New Arrivals Reel Production
Since 29th March 2023 Lukas Mutschlechner is not only working in our buying department but has also become the face of our New Arrivals skits! His energy and enthusiasm for these reels has brought a fresh wind to our content that we are looking forward to each week. So it’s only natural we had to make some kind of compilation celebrating Lukas‘ acting and all the fun stuff he came up with!
Collaborations with Fantastic People
Our biggest collaborations have been with Boshnroll, Filipa and Timmy, the Sorcerer. They are all overall fantastic people, and we are happy that they decided to team up with us. Not only did we share some content between each other, but we also met most of these beautiful people during events such as the MagicCons and the Viennageddon.
Another big collaboration we got going on a regular basis is the work with our different authors! We are happy to have such a great group of authors for our blog, and all the Artificial Intelligence in the world can’t make up for their collective knowledge, experience and wit when it comes to writing Magic: The Gathering related content! Those authors got names too: Nico Bohny, Ben Guilfoyle, Paulo Vitor Damo Da Rosa, Zen Takahashi and Matej Zatlkaj.
Thanks to everyone who stayed with us during 2024 and everyone that decided to join us in 2024! We hope we can continue this party in 2025!

Events, Events, Events
Our team travelled all around the world to different events and people! Here are some of the biggest events we were part of in 2024:
MagicCon Amsterdam 2024
MagicCon Las Vegas 2024
Spiel 2024 in Essen, Germany
VIENNAGEDDON 2024
On May 11, 2024, we were part of Vienna’s biggest Old School event: VIENNAGEDDON. We covered the good time in detail on our blog, which you can find here!
Here are a few short impressions of what this all looked like, but as we already mentioned, the blog article covers the VIENNAGEDDON in every detail.
We’re far from finished with VIENNAGEDDON—get ready, because it’s coming back in 2025! This time, the VIENNAGEDDON will feature not only an Old School tournament, but also a Premodern tournament. Therefore, we decided to host monthly Premodern tournaments, leading up to the Austrian Premodern Championship during the VIENNAGEDDON!
THE VIENNAGEDDON 2025 WILL BE FROM 16 TO 18 MAY 2025!
With that information out in the open, let’s have a glance at what the “Road to Viennageddon” looks like at our store (Thank you, Peter Czismadia for the pictures):
We can only recommend anyone, who hasn’t dipped their toes into Old School or Premodern, to partake, it’s a freaking blast with lots of fun old cards and cold tasty beer!

ThreeForWohnzimmer: The Draft Living Room
Your living room is too small to host over 60 people for a whole Saturday starting at 10AM? No problem, the ThreeForWohnzimmer (powered by Franz) is there to give you and your friends a place to draft for hours on a Saturday!
We had two ThreeForWohnzimmer so far: One 16th July and the other one on 12th October. Both of them were huge success, even so that we had to limit the second event to draft only. The first Wohnzimmer included side-events such as Commander and board games, but it got mainly overrun by drafters!
ThreeForWohnzimmer #1 Recap:
▪️ ROUND ONE: 34 drafters (28 Chaos, 6 Vintage Cube)
▪️ ROUND TWO: 48 drafters (30 Neon Dynasty, 12 Chaos Drafter Side Event, 6 Vintage Cube)
▪️ ROUND THREE: 36 Drafters (36 Mixed MH3/MH2/KLD)
The second ThreeForWohnzimmer was packed to the brim with 64 drafters by 10 AM. We don’t have a detailed recap on all the drafts. Instead, this Wohnzimmer came with a little storyline:
Dear friends of magical gatherings!
It is with great anticipation that I invite you back to the ThreeForWohnzimmer on October 12th to spend a Saturday (or optionally just parts of it) with Magic & Lembas.
…Lembas? Yes. I am shocked to announce that another ring of power has been found – TheWohnRing! Together, let us find a way to destroy it or choose a worthy ring bearer who will not be corrupted by it.
This will be done in the tried and tested way: Three drafts are to show who is the most worthy of us and can wear the ring. Or will there even be someone who resists the temptation and throws the ring back into the fires of the Schicksals-Budl for the great benefit of all? And yes: there will be plenty of dwarf beer.
Yours, Franzdalf the Bald
In other words, the prize for 1st place is The One Ring. The winner was faced with a difficult decision at the end – did they keep the ring for their own good or return it to the store to receive a reward for the entire community?
And here’s what happened to The One Ring at the end of a very, very long day of drafts:
The next 34Wohnzimmer is already scheduled, and who knows what Franz has planned for you this time! Guess we will all find out on February 1, 2025, for the
ThreeForWohnzimmer 3: Heroes of Might and Magic
Choose your class and defeat other players in this magical tournament!
Selling The Black Lotus
Alright, time to ask the most important question:
How many Black Lotus did we sell this year?
We already did this little quiz in 2022, 2023, and we are doing it now too! Counting Black Lotus from Beta, Unlimited, Collectors’ Edition and International Edition. Small hint: It’s even more than last year!
If you are done predicting, just hover over the box to get the answer.

To quote us around this time from the year 2022 :
Who knows, maybe we will crack the 300 milestone in 2023?
And to quote us around this time from the year 2023 :
Who knows, maybe we will crack the 400 milestone in 2024?
Short answer:
WE DID IT!
Be sure to leave a review too, we appreciate it!
Team Events
This year, we didn’t have a lot of time for extracurricular activities such as skydiving or go-cart racing (can’t get spoiled like that every year), but Oli, Wenzel and David made sure we were still entertained. That meant In-house Prereleases and “open fridge” for every employee! Not only that, but we all also got extra days off during Christmastime, thanks bosses!
Gin & Board Games
On Friday, 29th November we all gathered at the Three for One Trading home base for gin tonics and board games! Sadly, the Paradice Board Game Bar we went to last year has been closed (you can still support them by buying games from them at their store in Vienna), so we had to relocate to our own “bar”.
Lukas S. organized a lot of different gins and tonics, and together with some private board games as well as our own 341 board game collection (employees only!), we had a fantastic assortment for a fun night!
Games that got played (from small to big):
Skull King
Gundam Card Game
Magic: The Gathering “Stapel” and Jumpstart
Machi Koro
The Shipwreck Arcana
Cryptid
It’s a Wonderful World
Unicorn Fever
341 Old School Liga 2024
The Inhouse 341 Old School Magic scene is booming, and so we competed in our second OS League this year! A total of 16 employees decided to tap some oh, so beautiful 93/94 cardboard together. After work, during lunch or even between tasks, a quick game of Old School was never off the table (okay, maybe sometimes when we were just too busy).
This also means we only need to infect 11 more co-workers with the retro frame hype, how big will the league be in 2025?!
Final Standings (and Top 8) of the 341 Inhouse Old School League 2024
The pairings for Top 8 were:
Oli – Marc
Ivo – Wenzel
Charly – Lukas M.
Francisc – Stefan
After some heated battles (some shorter than longer), Oli defended his title once again, this time in the finals against Lukas! Oli played with his fully powered Land Tax Control deck against Lukas’ Tax Edge Combo deck. This put Lukas in a “slight” disadvantage, because Oli could also make use of the Land’s Edge Lukas deck was build around. Ouch!
Congratulations Oli on winning our second Old School League!
Oli’s Winning Deck: Land Tax Control Deck, making good use of that 2nd Place price from the Wanderlust Cup 2024
Pssssst… as of the time of writing, they don’t know it yet, but every participant of the 341 OS league will once again be gifted a patch they can stitch on anything they want. Super exclusive, super kinda self-made!
Excited to play another league next year! Who knows, maybe we’ll even throw a bit of Premodern into the mix?
Christmas Dinner Party 2024
Like every year, the office Christmas party is THE highlight of the year. We all gathered around 5 PM at the store for welcome drinks, snacks and a review of the year. There were gifts for everyone and the obligatory group picture time!
By now we are regulars at Rosnovsky, because we are going there for each Christmas! As always, this meant excellent Austrian cuisine with enough salt to make a grown MtG player happy. Then there were a lot of Jumpstart games, Premodern and, of course, drinks for everyone!
See you in 2025!
